- As the Champion, Team UTP from Universiti Teknologi Petronas will represent Malaysia at the regional Campus Legends tournament in Singapore

Team UPT, comprising students from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), claimed the championship title in the Hotlink Uni Legends MLBB 2024 esports tournament. The team emerged victorious in the grand finale after months of intense Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) battles, outplaying an impressive field of 512 teams who competed from 92 higher education institutions nationwide.
As the Champion, the team will proceed to represent Malaysia to compete against teams from Southeast Asia at the Campus Legends tournament in Singapore taking place from 26 to 27 October 2024.
Launched in July 2024, the Hotlink Uni Legends MLBB 2024 tournament was created exclusively for students of higher education institutions across Malaysia. Starting from virtual qualifier rounds, the top eight teams then advanced to compete in the finals held at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam for a total prize pool of RM100,000.
Following the electrifying final showdown, the tournament culminated in the following results:
- Champion: Team UTP, Univesiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) – RM30,000 prize + the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the Campus Legends in Singapore
- 2nd Place: USM Orcas, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) – RM20,000 prize
- 3rd Place: Onic Malay, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) – RM15,000 prize
Additionally, the teams who finished in 4th to 8th place were awarded cash prizes ranging from RM3,000 to RM10,000.
The prize-giving ceremony was graced by Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh, who awarded prizes to the top winners, alongside Maxis Chief Executive Officer, Goh Seow Eng. The Minister commended the top teams on their accomplishments, acknowledging the tournament as a testament to the progress of Malaysia’s esports scene. Hotlink Uni Legends MLBB is one of the many esports initiatives supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The grand finale took place as part of a 3-day event from 18 to 20 October held at UiTM Shah Alam. In addition to the esports action, attendees enjoyed a lively music festival featuring performances by top local artistes including SonaOne, Ismail Izzani, Asyraf Nasir, Insomniacks, Yonnyboii, and Kmy Kmo & Luca Sickta. The event also included a food and urban festival supported by official partners such as MOONTON Games, UiTM, ZUS Coffee, TTRacing, Maybank, ZTE Nubia, and Huawei.
The Hotlink Uni Legends MLBB tournament is supported by MOONTON Games’ Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia. The esports league is Malaysia’s most popular and longest running and serves as a gateway for players to represent Malaysia at international MLBB tournaments.
These include the recently concluded Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024, which saw Malaysia make history by winning its first major international MLBB tournament, and the upcoming M6 World Championship to be hosted by Malaysia in December.
