Hotlink by Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telecommunications provider, has teamed up with MOONTON Games, the global video game company behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), to launch its first esports tournament powered by the community.
The Hotlink x MPL MY Jaguh All Star tournament will empower fans by allowing them to pick the teams competing in the MYR 50,000 prize pool event. These will comprise top-tier professional athletes from MLBB Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY), the nation’s longest-running and most popular esports league. Hotlink x MPL MY Jaguh All Star will be held on 18 May at the MPL MY Arena at Stadium MBSJ Serdang Jaya, after the final week of the MPL MY Season 13 Regular Season (Week 6 on 11 and 12 May).
As part of the partnership, the tournament will be powered by Hotlink’s lightning-fast 5G network. Additionally, Hotlink users who attend the free event will receive event-limited Hotlink x MPL MY Jaguh All Star merchandise and be in the running to attend a meet-and-greet with the winning team.
Rabiras Rajakrishnan, Head of Hotlink Consumer at Maxis, said: “This year, we’ve amped up our partnership with MOONTON Games as the Malaysia presenter in 2024 to supercharge the growth of the MLBB esports ecosystem. Aside from providing affordable internet and optimising our 5G network for reduced latency, we hope to offer an unparalleled gaming experience to our users with exclusive content and rewards. This tournament will be a perfect opportunity for fans to participate by voting for their favourite players and have a chance to see the league’s most talented players in the same match.”
Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Marketing and Business Development Lead at MOONTON Games, said: “Our national competitive MLBB circuit is now in its eighth year, so we’re always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to offer our community fresh experiences. Pitting combinations of the league’s most popular athletes against each other in a high-stakes competitive arena has always been a huge ‘What-if’ for fans, so we’re delighted to team up with Hotlink to provide them with this opportunity.”
The Hotlink x MPL MY Jaguh All Star tournament is the latest in Hotlink’s many initiatives to captivate the MLBB esports community in Malaysia with the best gaming experiences. It follows Hotlink’s recent expanded partnership with MOONTON Games in 2024 as part of its strategy to empower the gaming ecosystem with its best-in-class 5G network.
MPL Malaysia is organised by MOONTON Games and IO Esports with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and Esports Integrated (ESI). Now in its 13th season, the league sees Malaysia’s top 10 teams compete for the title of the nation’s best MLBB team and a slice of the USD 100,000 (~MYR 479,000) prize pool. This season, the champion will earn direct qualification to the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and a shot at the USD 3,000,000 (~MYR 14,180,000) prize pool – the largest-ever in MLBB competitive history.
Stay up to speed with MPL Malaysia Season 13 updates and action with Hotlink.
